Thing 6

Thing 6
I played with several of the mash-ups like Mappr, Flickr Color Pickr, and visited FD Toys.  I did create a trading card using Trading Card Maker. I have attached it, this is my car that I have restored and I LOVE it very much.  I really have taken many cruises to rid my self of all my worries temporarily. I was very surprised and pleased at how easy and user friendly it was.  I thought of may ideas on using these cards in the library.  The kids could read a biography and create a card about the person.  After talking about biography and autobiography they could write an autobiography and then create a card about themselves. Also they could create cards about main characters in a book.

  1. Sweet ride - it's a beauty! Boys would love making car cards, too, wouldn't they? Creating cards about famous people in history is a fun way to learn the facts about them. I like your idea about autobiographical cards - kids could use them to get acquainted at the beginning of the year.

  2. The cards are a cool idea. I can see using the cards in several ways. With my ill-traveled clients, they could create a card with a picture of the setting of a book. In fact, can you imagine a writing, or story-telling, game where you select a charater card, setting card, etc., then write about them?

  3. Have often wondered what your mustang looked like. Awesome. Great thought about the biography card. Kids will love it.

  4. I hadn't seen it yet so was really excited to see this picture! I'll have to drive by the Rasco parking lot and check it out!

I loved your ideas about using the trading cards - gives me thoughts about using them as an end of the year activity having students use them to do My Favorite Author cards.

  5. Wow! That's your car? So cool!

I also tried the Trading Card application and plan on using it with my 8th grade Language Arts students. Did anyone have trouble getting the picture to upload in the correct size? My pictures kept being too big to show the whole thing. It worked enough to show up, but it wasn't the size I wanted. I even tried resizing before I uploaded, but it kept coming out the same. Just thought someone else might have some insight.
